The story
“Over and Over and Over Again” is one of the most real songs I've ever written. And also one of the quickest. I think the whole thing came together in a matter of hours, from sitting down at the piano to writing the lyrics and producing the song.
In short, it flew!
It flew because it flowed from me.
And my experiences.
Experiences that are both unique and all too common.
They are unique because they are my particular experiences. And they are common because, in one form or another, I live them all the time.
For me, it's the hidden mistake.
I'm doing what I'm supposed to do.
I'm doing it as I believe I should do it.
And yet, somehow or other, something goes wrong.
I have lived that reality over and over and over again.
These are my personal challenges, which G-d Himself has gifted to me.
And that is the point: they are difficult.
And they are gifts.
The gift is that it is not easy.
The gift is that I don't quite know how to transcend this reality.
Which means I have to dig deeper.
And reach out.
And accept that I am not (yet) everything I thought I was or could be.
And so much more.
And each time this reality comes back, I have to face it again.
We each have our own over and over and over agains. Our own challenges to face, in our own, unique way.
And that's how it is supposed to be.
